If you’ve thought I was gone, let me just tell you you’re not getting rid of me that easily.Let me be the first welcome aboard Kyle Ocker to “The Finish Line.”

Allow me to tell you more. I was first introduced to the Iowa native just before the green flag waved for this year’s Daytona race. Ocker has just joined “NASCAR_Nation” a Yahoo! Groups fan community that I became a part of when “NASCAR For Dummies” merged with the group in Noevember, 2007 just a couple of weeks before Homestead.

I digress. Kyle had intorduced himself to me and turned my on to “FanZone”- a website he developed last Fall. Ocker invited me to become a part of his team by linking and putting my posts when I had my own blog “bump-drafts”.

As you soon will, I was impressed with Ocker’s creativity, vision and passion for NASCAR. I saw our partnership as a way to branch out further and connect with other fans I couldn’t meet on my own. It was an enjoyable exchange up until the time I shut “bump-drafts” down a couple of months ago to focus my total creative energies on “The Finish Line.”

Kyle and I ave kept in touch through our message board, and since we first met, he’s ventured into other interests, such as developing a similar site for Indy Car racing (if you ask me, I just think he wants access to Danica Patrick. Who could blame him?).

Thanks to Kyle, I was introduced to “NASCAR Media“- a hugely helpful tool for this blog and for my work at the radio station where I’m Sports Director. Like I said, no one will say the guy lacks ambition.

By the way, Kyle’s perhaps the youngest NASCAR Media member- he’s 15!
