Keepin’ It Off The Wall: Expect a heck of a weekend

Thursday, May 15th, 2008 by Kyle Ocker

This weekend is set to make NASCAR even more popular.

Since Darrell Waltrip won the first ever All-Star race in 1985, it was the beginning of one of the biggest non-points events on the schedule.  The inaugural race only had 12 starters.  This weekend’s race is expected to have 24 cars racing for a purse in excess of 3 million dollars.

In this race, with no points on the line, is a dash for cash.

Its a race that if I didn’t look, I wouldn’t know that Jimmie Johnson finished second.

With all the Kyle Busch vs. Dale Earnhardt Jr controversy going on.  I have a bad feeling that it could get worse this weekend.  With 98% of Dale Jr fans “hating” Kyle Busch, and 98& of Kyle Busch fans “hating” Dale Jr.  If one touches the other, better call in security.  In the event of something like that happening, we could have a riot on our hands.

So far, Dale Jr has swept all non-points races that he has participated in (Bud Shootout, Gatorade Duel #1).
